May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow
with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Joy is the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying keen pleasure; elation. Are this life’s worries, cares, and responsibilities stealing your joy? As a college student, you have many responsibilities and daily tasks. Your life can be busy. But did you know that God has a remedy for your stressful life?

Yes, God’s word is the remedy. The word joy is mentioned over 160 times in the bible. Jesus made it clear that he expects us to live a joyful life. Beginning your day with a daily devotional in the word of God will give you the joy and the peace you need to start your day with a positive mindset. I’ve listed three scriptures below that you can add to your daily devotional time to cultivate joy.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your
ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

– Proverbs 3: 5-6

Whatever work you do, do it with all your heart. Do it for the Lord and not for men.
Remember that you will get your reward from the Lord. He will give you what you should
receive. You are working for the Lord Christ.

– Colossians 3: 23-24

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be
added unto you.

– Matthew 6:33

Spending time with Jesus through studying His word will cultivate joy in your life.
It will release you from the stress and pressures of daily life. Jesus becomes the
source of your strength. Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior through
repentance? Do you need to re-commit your life to Jesus today? Could you read the prayer below and let Jesus into your heart?

Lord Jesus, thank you for listening to my prayer. I have heard about you, but I do not know
you. I confess to you that I am a sinner, and I need your help. Please forgive me for all my sins. And set my life on the righteous path that leads to eternal life. I know little about your word, but I am willing to learn. I open my heart to you and ask you to come into my life as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me. Amen!
