A Path to Healing and Peace
Your college years are a time of great change and growth, filled with new experiences and challenges. As you navigate this exciting chapter in your life, it’s important to remember the transformative power of forgiveness. Whether it’s forgiving a friend who has let you down or letting go of resentment towards a family member, forgiveness can have a profound impact on your mental and physical health.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus spoke about forgiveness, saying, “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins” (Matthew 6:14-15). These words remind us that forgiveness is not just a commandment, but also a pathway to inner healing and peace.

What is Forgiveness
Forgiveness is not about excusing or condoning the actions of others. It’s about releasing yourself from the burden of anger and resentment. When you forgive, you are not denying the seriousness of the offense, but rather choosing to let go of negative emotions and move forward with your life.
Research has shown that forgiveness can have a range of benefits for your health and well-being. Letting go of grudges can lead to healthier relationships, reduced stress and anxiety, and improved self-esteem. It can also have positive effects on your physical health, such as lower blood pressure and a stronger immune system.
On the other hand, holding onto grudges can have negative effects on your well-being. It can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, and hostility, and can strain your relationships with others. By choosing to forgive, you can free yourself from these negative emotions and open yourself up to a future filled with peace and healing.
As young college women, you are at a pivotal point in your lives, full of potential and opportunity. By embracing the power of forgiveness, you can navigate the challenges of college life with grace and compassion. Remember, in the words of Jesus, “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” (Matthew 6:12) “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
Have a great and prosperous summer!
